If your kitchen has open shelves, add LED strip lights or puck lights to the back or underneath the shelves. This will create light to highlight objects on the shelves. When choosing your fixtures, think about the color of your kitchen. Since white reflects light, if you have a lot of white in your kitchen you may be able to lower the wattage of bulbs. But those with darker kitchen lighting may need more wattage.
n almost every room of the house, we use both general lighting and task lighting. One room where many of us particularly want to provide both types of lighting is the kitchen. Task lighting is the lighting we use to clearly see something we are doing. Reading lamps and desk lamps are two examples.
These long, narrow lights are installed directly onto the underside of your cabinetry, making them ideal for illuminating countertops and prep areas. LED light bars come in a wide variety of lengths and they’re linkable, so even long countertops can be fully and evenly illuminated. They can be either hardwired into the wall for a seamless look, or plugged in for easy installation.
