Since no single fixture will provide all the light necessary for kitchen lighting tasks, try adding layers. Use a main overhead light with layers of smaller lights placed in areas for various tasks, such as near a food prep station, over the stove and above the kitchen sink. Adding layers will also help cut down on glare.
General lighting is the illumination we use to light up the whole area, to help us walk around and find our way to specific areas and additional light sources. Most often, these days, general lighting is provided by overhead electrical fixtures. In the kitchen, these can be one of three types — recessed fixtures, surface fixtures, and pendant fixtures. Each has its pros and cons, and many kitchens have more than one of the types.
Pendant lights hang down from the ceiling, and you won’t find a more versatile option than the Globe Electric Angelica 1-Light Modern Industrial Pendant. These highly-rated kitchen lights come in a variety of finishes, from antique brass to plain black, and you can choose from several different styles, from one- up to five-bulb fixtures.
