Whether you’re working with an existing kitchen layout for which you need replacement appliances, remodeling to change your current design or creating your dream kitchen as part of a new construction project, the layout of your kitchen dictates a lot about the appliances you’ll need to purchase.
The traditional range or stove, a single unit with cooktop above and oven below, is an affordable, space-conserving solution still chosen by most homeowners. But it’s just one of the cooking options offered today. Some serious home cooks choose commercial-style stoves with six or eight burners instead of four, basting and grilling functions, and built-in warming ovens.
Some homes have kitchens in which you could park an airliner. Others not so much, with some apartments’ “kitchens” being little more than a sink and some cabinets lined against one wall. Neither is inherently better; it all depends on what is desired. If someone has a large family or frequently hosts dinner parties, bigger is better. But if not, it’s just more for you to clean.
