New company Plykea launched a series of birch ply doors and worktops that can be attached to IKEA‘s ‘Metod‘ kitchen cupboards. Digital product designer Tim Diacon wanted a speedy way in which to create a handsome kitchen on a finite budget. Already possessing an IKEA kitchen, Tim searched for a company that could make a set of birch ply fronts. Unsuccessful in his quest, Tim turned to his friend Adam Vergette for help—Adam is a furniture designer and a one-time production worker with Vitsœ. The two men hatched a plan to create an online service that would provide reasonably priced bespoke plywood doors, drawer fronts, worktops and cover panels for IKEA kitchen cabinets: and so Plykea was born.
It is time to turn up the heat in your vintage kitchen and take the style quotient to a whole new level with the Fireview Woodburning Cookstove. This high-efficiency addition comes with a truly classic form and yet delivers the very best in terms of smart heating and convenient cooking experience. The viewing window feature is another striking aspect of the woodburning cookstove‘s design that sets it apart even while giving the interior a blazing focal point. Available in three different models (one of which sports optional side gas burners), Fireview is a showstopper, in every sense of the word!
The most noticeable and iconic feature of this new kitchen series is the ‘frame door‘ that combines a dash of Shaker furniture style and traditional kitchen door design with contemporary refinement and minimal modernity. The fusion is simply spectacular as these understated additions give the kitchen an entirely new look and set it apart from other contemporary compositions. Even in a crowd, Carattere is instantly recognizable thanks to this signature feature that is available with two different variants. Whether it is with fixed handles or with grip integrated into the cabinet door, these frame doors definitely make an immediate impact.
Gone are the days when the kitchen was filled with just polished plastic surfaces and design that was typical of the 90‘s ‘cubicle‘ trend. Modern kitchens are once again going down the classic route and textural contrast is back in style, big time! With that mind, designers are turning towards both wood and natural stone to provide the necessary contrast even while keeping the ergonomics refined and cutting-edge. Apart from the warmth of wood, it is the exquisite elegance of marble that seems to be the preferred choice as cutting-edge kitchen compositions are being selectively draped in marble.
The small window seat can also provide a welcome break from the wall of shelves and cabinets in the kitchen, ushering in some much needed contrast. The throw pillows, cushions and fabric of the window seat also bring textural change to a space that is otherwise dominated by wood, tile and metallics. Whether you use it as a after-school hangout for your kids (as you keep an eye on them) or as a wonderful conversation nook, the small window seat in the kitchen comes in mighty handy.
